About Me

My name’s Maya Robertson, and I’d like to thank you for taking some time out of your day to visit my website and perhaps read a little of my stories.

I’m a creature of the night. I love all things dark with a particular passion for gothic and folk horrors.

I started writing in 2014 as a way of keeping myself occupied while undergoing cancer treatment, which I’m glad to say that I’m all clear and fully recovered from now. I wrote some short children’s stories about a hapless racehorse and his increasingly frustrated jockey. Unfortunately, I’ve long since lost the files for those stories into the ether. The handful of printed copies I produced may still be floating around out there somewhere, but I’ve lost track of them.

I had written nothing since then, until one cold January morning in 2025, I woke up with the urge to dust off the keyboard and put down a plot idea that had been in my head for years. That’s when Betrayal was born. A dark, psychological thriller that explores the nature of abuse and trauma.

I was born and currently live in the UK to Norwegian parents. I love both countries, so you’ll see a lot of references to the pair of them in my writing. The dark folklore of Scandinavia has always drawn me in and is what gave me the inspiration for The Myling.
